I am at the beginning of my PhD in mountain geomorphology and fascinated by (high) mountain regions. I am particularly interested in alpine sediment cascades in peri-(glacial) areas and their dynamics in the context of climate change. Especially the combination of field and remote sensing approaches as well as surface and subsurface information is of particular interest to me. My PhD thesis focusses on the dynamics of dead - and ground ice and its interrelation with sediment dynamics in alpine proglacial areas. For that, I combine different geophysical techniques with emphasis on electrical resistivity tomography, water isotope analyses, ground/surface temperatures, as well as high resolution geomorphic change modelling based on LiDAR data.

Ongoing projects/ collaboration in projects:

  • Sensitivity and dynamics of ground and dead ice in alpine glacier forefields in the context of climate change since 1850
  • The complex landslide system at Jharkot (Kali Gandaki catchment, Nepal) ('Mukslide')
